Story contest

Start and finish

The contest began on 1 January 2018. Entries were accepted until 31 March 2018. 63 stories have reached us. The winners were presented at the opening of the exhibition on May 12th.

When the exhibition goes travelling, we will start a new contest, so you'll have another chance to participate!

Who could take part?

Anyone of any age who lives in Saxony. Friends, couples, families and other groups of people can take part together.

What were we looking for?

Writen, drawn, or animated or short stories about one, some or all of the following: love, family, living together or apart, lovesickness or the joy of love. Stories had to be understood by children aged at least ten.

Prizes

1st prize €300 • 2nd prize €200 • 3rd prize €100

In addition, ten other prizes were awarded: five vouchers for two for the Sachsentherme leisure pool in Leipzig and five cinema vouchers for two for CineStar Leipzig.

Prizes were awarded for the most emotionally moving entries regardless of their technical quality and artistic skill. Parents and other adults may assist children with their entries. The jury’s decision is final and there is no right of appeal.

Jury

The members of the jury were Ayleena Jung (wife of the Mayor of Leipzig), Martin Machowecz (head of the Leipzig office of weekly newspaper Die Zeit), Dr Volker Rodekamp (director of Leipzig Museum of City History) and Annegret Hänsel (CEO of UNIKATUM Children’s Museum).

Rules

Each participant consents to their work being printed and/or digitally reproduced for the resulting exhibition. By entering the contest, each entrant states that they are the author of their work and that it is not subject to any third-party rights. Stories should not indicate the identities of any actual people involved. The visual depiction of people is only allowed if they cannot be identified. There is no automatic right to publication of entries. If you would like your original work to be returned, please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope.

Entries should be marked ‘Lots of Love’ and sent with the following details:

your surname, first name, age, address, the title of your story
